Students visited Milan Lumber Co., LLC, a family-owned softwood dimension mill in Milan, where they explored contemporary lumber production and timber processing technologies. Guided by Milan’s timber experts, the students gained insight into advanced wood sorting and manufacturing systems, including AI-driven wood species identification, sawing pattern optimization software for dimension lumber, and image-based automated lumber grading technologies.
