YYY investigates the use of commonly found Y-shaped tree branches as structural elements. Using a non-digital shape grammar approach, it translates the natural geometry of branches into reproducible and scalable designs, enabling rapid assembly. The system ultimately supports low-cost, modular housing, with customizable living units for sleeping, dining, hygiene, and study, enclosed within branch-based structural shells. The building envelope is made from locally recycled high-performance athletic fabrics, using soft materials to adapt to the unpredictable geometry of the structure. Linda Qian contributed to this project as a collaborator in the parallel workshop.
