This project creates an open framework supporting honey production in the Alpilles region of France, with flexible space for apiary education, gathering, and observation of the surrounding landscape. Beekeeping has been central to the region’s agricultural heritage since Roman times, when stone bee walls were first constructed. Today, climate change and ecological instability increasingly threaten both bee habitat and agricultural practices. The proposal is driven by the relationship between two underutilized resources: a network of abandoned eighteenth-century windmills and irregular Aleppo pine.
